About Us
The South Eastern Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. represents 12 percent of the sorority’s total national membership and is made up of 104 graduate and undergraduate chapters in Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee under the leadership of Juanita Sims Doty, Ed.D. This region is proud of the dynamic, positive and committed women who give of their time, resources and talents by serving as advocates, role models and champions of causes that encourage, uplift and support communities in the South Eastern area.
Under the umbrella of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is a network of nearly 200,000 educated and professional women rendering service to communities all across this nation and abroad. The service efforts of members in the South Eastern Region contribute to the millions of people who have benefited from AKA’s service to the community through its Extraordinary Service Programs in economics, health, technology, and the economic growth of the Black Family. As America’s first Greek-lettered organization founded in 1908 by Black college women, AKA upholds a rich and respected tradition of service and celebrated its Centennial Anniversary in July 2008. |
